My family would be grateful if you could donate something to help get my dad to Houston for an initial consultation at MD Anderson Cancer Center. My dad’s appointment at Anderson is January 28th.
If he is accepted into a trial, all of his travel and treatment will be free. A few months ago, my parents hesitated to take this route because my dad's insurance is not accepted at MD Anderson. But now that we have hit a dead end for hope in El Paso, we need to reach out to our family and friends.
The amount we are raising includes the cost of the initial consultation at MD Anderson, roundtrip flights from El Paso to Houston for my father and mother, lodging for 5 nights, shuttle transportation to and from the hospital, food, and in-home care after my dad is released from the hospital.

My dad was diagnosed with non-small-cell lung cancer in the summer of 2017. Thankfully he went into remission December 2017. However, in late spring of 2018 we were informed that the lung cancer appeared in his kidney.
Due to the stubbornness of the cancer, the best option was to take him to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for the most advanced treatment. But because my dad's insurance was not accepted by MD Anderson, my parents were limited to the immunotherapy available in El Paso.
We found out on Christmas Eve that my dad had pneumonia, which was causing his shortness of breath due to liquid and blood filling his lungs. A couple of days after the New Year, we were told the cancer had spread to multiple organs and was now stage 4b--our only options in El Paso were hospice or a type of treatment that could prolong his life and help treat the pain but not get rid of the cancer.
Anything you can donate will help us reach our goal and help pay for the expenses needed to get my dad the care he needs so he can beat lung cancer once and for all! Thank you and God bless.
