Hi, I'm Marissa and as hard as this is for me to do, I'm swallowing my pride to do this for my dog, Ruby, who tore her ACL and needs surgery. My girl is a super healthy, active, 7-year-old who loves to run and play. She tore her ACL a few weeks ago and has not put weight on this back leg since, which is hindering her ability to walk, and due to the injury, results in no play or run time. As a dog that was active multiple times a day, I can see the depression setting in on her. She is barely eating anymore and due to her limited mobility, is not leaving the couch often. She needs assistance getting up and down from furniture at this point. She's been to the vet where we received a hefty quote on TPLO surgery for her, as well as having to now have her on 4 medications daily for this. I've contacted almost 50 vets within the surrounding areas and unfortunately all vets that perform these surgeries charge a very high price. The expenses between meds, diagnoses and tests, surgery, post op sure skyrocketed fast and I am afraid will continue to grow if not acted on quickly as the longer we wait to do this surgery, the more potential of her pulling her other ACL, hurting her hips, and complicating things more due to compensating all of her weight on her other, single back leg. At the time of this quote from the vet, my head was spinning trying to figure out how to come up with the money for her to get this surgery. Within a little over a week of this diagnosis and quote, my vehicle started having issues and is not very safe to drive at this point. Another week following, it happened to my boyfriend's vehicle as well. They say bad things come in threes... I'm hoping this is the end of the hits. 3 unexpected, expensive expenses all at once that I don't know how to pay for, so I'm turning to GoFundMe.... Even though I hate to do this, my dog comes first and seeing that Ruby gets this surgery is my #1 priority. As hard as it is for me to ask for help, she is my family and I'd do anything to get her what she needs. I know there are so many others who are in need and have bigger issues than this, which is another reason I hate to do this but I am hoping to receive any help I can get at this point to see that this surgery happens before she develops other issues. I would appreciate any help I can get and if you're unable or just not wanting to send support in a monetary way, please share in hopes of reaching more people. Thank you everyone.
