I truly believe God placed Ruby in my path yesterday—almost like He made sure our worlds collided—because she needs help, and I can’t ignore it.

My Grandma has been in the hospital for weeks, and Ruby is the custodian on her floor. Ruby is 62, from Norman, Oklahoma. She has a very bad back, can hardly get around, just had back surgery and is now back to working full time after surgery again. She HURTS, she’s tired and needs financial support so she won’t have to work 40+ hour weeks just to barely get by. She uses the local food banks for food support. Her son lives with her and they split bills to make ends meet. She will not be able retire for years to come and given how expensive everything is, even when that time comes she still will most likely have to work part time to afford the necessities.

She is the most selfless, gentle, unbelievably kind woman I’ve met in a long time. And it absolutely breaks my heart that someone who pours so much love into others is still working so hard when she deserves to REST.

As she left the room, I watched her smile at every patient, comfort coworkers, and greet families with such grace. I cannot explain it, but her spirit hit me in a way I’ll never forget. I am desperate to give her the financial freedom she has earned a thousand times over—and I want to help her retire early and enjoy life the way she should.
