Ruby Jean is our precious rescue Chihuahua and the heart of our family. For nearly a decade, she’s filled our lives with energy, adventure, and unconditional love. She adores her siblings, loves to play, and has always been our bravest little explorer. Over the past year, Ruby Jean’s health has taken a difficult turn. She began experiencing recurring urinary tract infections that didn’t respond to regular antibiotics, and soon after, she developed neurological challenges—difficulty walking, weakness in her back legs, and inflammation in her spinal cord. We did everything we could, from medications to extensive imaging and testing, but the costs quickly depleted our savings.

Last night, Ruby Jean’s belly suddenly became distended and hard, and we rushed her to the ER. She was hospitalized overnight and is still there as doctors search for answers. They’re concerned about a possible growth or blockage at the exit of her stomach, and she’s also being tested for bladder cancer due to her history of treatment-resistant infections. Through it all, Ruby Jean has remained playful, loving, and strong—she truly is our bravest girl. But the mounting medical bills, the loss of our pet insurance due to skyrocketing premiums, and the need to finance her care have left us struggling to keep up.

Ruby Jean is our child. We have no human children, and our pets are our family. She’s spunky, loves to open gifts and mail, and adores playing outside and snuggling with us. We are doing everything possible to give her the best life and quality care she deserves.
