My name is Brooke and I'm starting a GoFundMe to help with my upcoming bills for Ruby's treatment for cancer. She was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in October 2024. We went through the process of surgery for removal, an ultrasound to see if it spread anywhere else, and testing to see the levels. But due to the location, the surgeon was not able to get good margins upon removal, and she is at a stage 2 (out of 3). To try and eliminate the chances of the mast cell regrowing and to avoid amputation, I decided to treat the mast cell at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital oncology. The total cost for treatment is over 11k with 6-8 weeks of recovery for Ruby. It's a huge cost and something I had to consider if I wanted her to have a long, healthy life. The treatment has a high success rate, which means she could live a normal, happy, long life.

Most of you know, but for back story - I adopted Ruby in 2018 after I volunteered at the Aurora Animal Shelter for 2 years. We met and I instantly fell in love. I knew adopting a dog was a big deal, so I decided to see if she was still there when I had my next shift. Thankfully, we had a little animal-shelter trip to a nearby park where she was waiting excitedly. I was able to spend that afternoon with her, and when we got back, I signed the papers and adopted this little nugget of joy. She's ~8 years young and is happy and incredibly loving to those she meets.
