Hi! I’m Ruby and I’m 14 years old. Surfing isn’t just something I love—it’s the biggest part of my life.

I’ve been lucky enough to grow up by the ocean. I was born in Costa Rica, raised on Maui, and now live in Southern California. The water has always been my home, and ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of becoming a World Champion.

Over the past few years, that dream has started to feel real. I’ve been ranked the #1 girl in my age division in the United States through USA Surfing for the past two years, and I’ve won multiple national titles along the way. I’ve also started competing in World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series events, where I’ve already made it to semifinals and quarterfinals against some of the best surfers in the world.

But surfing is only part of my story. I’m also a homeschooled straight-A student, and I train every day—both in and out of the water. I work on strength, breath training, and mental performance because I want to be the best athlete I can be. I also love connecting with people through social media, contests and events, and sharing my journey with others who love the ocean as much as I do.

I live with my mom, and she does absolutely everything she can to support me and all my dreams—making sacrifices every day. She’s the one driving me to early morning surf sessions, the gym, helping me stay on top of school, and making it possible for me to compete. But the reality is, the financial pressure has become overwhelming for us. Between contest travel, training, and now even basic living expenses, it’s been really hard to keep up. Our lease is up and we’re not able to renew it. We don’t know where we’re going to live next.

Right now, I’m asking for help to take the next big steps in my career—and to help ease some of that burden on my mom so we can stay focused on both my future and our day-to-day stability.
