Rubens and I have known each other several years now. He was working in the US and during that time he became an integral part of Stealth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Rubens was training with us on a Monday and Tuesday was in and out of hospitals.

A severe infection took hold, relentlessly traveling down the spine and settling in the hip. This resulted in a protracted hospital stay of 37 days, causing significant disruption and discomfort. US Medical interventions proved insufficient in addressing the persistent infection. The complexities of the case demanded specialized attention and a comprehensive treatment plan.

Rubens flew to Brazil to get the life saving medical care that US doctors weren't giving him.

Despite the efforts made, the infection remained a challenge, impacting overall health and well-being. The extended hospitalization underscored the severity of the situation.

Professor Rubens is going to need another surgery to repair his hip fully. There is a doctor in his home country of Brazil that can perform the surgery but since he was in the USA his government benefits take 2 years to get reinstated in Brazil.
