Hi friends, I am reaching out for help for my client's fees to apply for his permanent residence (green card) and related immigration medical exam fee. My client, R.P., has been detained since early September when he responsibly appeared for his asylum interview. After completing his interview, we were led into a back hallway where 5 armed agents surrounded and kidnapped R.P., who is no more than 5'4 and 115 pounds.

R.P. was a former Chelsea High School student who then moved to Lynn. He struggled while his mother was trying to support him, his 2 younger siblings with disabilities, and elderly grandmother, causing his mother to be financially tied to an abusive relationship. R.P. helped his mom exit this relationship by becoming the family's primary breadwinner. Since his detention, R.P.'s family is severely behind on bills and support and cannot afford these fees themselves.

As you know, all of the PAIR Project 's clients are low income and receive free legal representation. Recent fee hikes due to H.R.1 a/k/a "the big beautiful bill" and prohibition of fee waivers have been disastrous for our clients. While PAIR also struggles to support itself, these fees have been yet another obstacle to our work.

For R.P., we are seeking help for his $1500 fee to pursue his permanent residency in court as well as what will be at least a $400 immigration medical exam fee.

Honestly, I hesitate to post this because R.P. is just as deserving as others who are facing these recent fee increases and detention, but I don't know how else to raise support for his fees. We are super grateful for any little amount contributed. Thank you!
