Help Roy Fight Pancreatic Cancer with Life-Saving Treatment

Donation protected
On February 21st, just one day after his 62nd birthday, Roy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. What was supposed to be a year of celebration quickly turned into the fight of his life.
Roy has always been a pillar of strength — a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, and a friend. Known affectionately as Razor in his younger days, he earned that nickname for his grit and toughness on and off the ice. A man you wanted in your corner — and now, he needs us in his.
He’s the proud dad of Ashley and Bobby, and the loving grandfather of ten grandchildren, who are the light of his life. Whether he's playing dice, joking around, or making memories, Roy’s presence is always larger than life. His laughter fills the room, and his heart, even more so.
Until recently, Roy was living with and caring for his elderly parents — always putting others before himself. But now, he’s the one in need of care.

The Journey So Far:
Roy began treatment through the Pancreatic Cancer Program at the Baker Centre at London Health Sciences with a dedicated team led by Dr. Leslie and Dr. Welch. He’s already undergone two grueling rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes and wrapped around major blood vessels, making traditional surgery (the Whipple procedure) no longer an option.
But there is still hope.

A New Hope: NanoKnife Procedure
Roy has been approved for a cutting-edge treatment called NanoKnife (Irreversible Electroporation/IRE) — offered by Dr. Donaway at Atlas Oncology in Florida. It’s a minimally invasive, non-thermal ablation that targets cancer cells with electrical pulses, destroying them while preserving the vital surrounding tissue.
This innovative procedure could give Roy something that’s been slowly taken from him: time. Time to make more memories. Time to laugh with his grandkids. Time to keep fighting.
The cost, however, is not covered by insurance and is overwhelmingly out of reach:
• Surgeon: $16,000 USD
• Hospital stay: $35,000 USD
• Pre-op testing: $2,000 USD
• Post-op care: $2,000 USD
• Flights & accommodations for a week: $5,000 USD
• TOTAL Goal: $60, 000 USD ($80,000 CAD)

Why We’re Asking for Your Help
Roy has been through so much — the loss of his brother Bobby at 18, the death of his sister Cindy to lymphoma, and now, the most difficult battle of all. But through every hardship, he’s never lost his spark.
The truth is: our healthcare system failed him. For six months, Roy visited walk-in clinics and emergency rooms, dismissed over and over again with diagnoses like GERD, stomach ulcers, and gastro bugs. It wasn’t until a patient advocate stepped in that Roy finally received the biopsy that confirmed the real cause — pancreatic cancer.
Now, he’s determined to defy the odds. To stay strong. To beat the King of all cancers — because if anyone can, it’s Roy.
No matter the game, he plays to win. And this one, he’s not playing alone.

Let’s Get Razor to Florida. Let’s Help Him Keep Fighting.
Your donation will go directly to Roy’s treatment and recovery — helping with the procedure, travel, hospital stay, and giving his family peace of mind during this critical time.
If you can’t give, please consider sharing Roy’s story. Every share, every dollar, every kind word matters more than you know.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being in Roy’s corner.
