Hello…

I’m Roy Cohen, and I’m hoping to raise money to help with some medical and personal expenses, after a recent accident. On November 24, while riding safely in the bike lane on my daily ride, I was struck by a car traveling in excess of the speed limit. I was thrown from my bicycle, receiving numerous injuries.

The accident left me with two broken legs, four broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, some lost teeth, several broken vertebrae, and a number of superficial wounds on my legs, arms, and face. I was also left with long-term nerve damage with my right leg, leaving me dependent on a walker or cane to get around indefinitely.

In addition to the physical damage due to my injuries, I also lost my source of income — a business which I ran for 25 years. It’s unlikely I’ll be able to restart that business until I get the nerve damage with my right leg resolved. That may take a year or longer.

I’m hoping to raise money to help pay my immediate medical expenses, some of which are now coming due, as well as my monthly living expenses, while I wait for a settlement with the individual who hit me. That settlement is inevitable, but it may take some time to conclude and collect.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. And if you can’t help, I’ll understand, completely. I know times are tough for many people right now, and the economy is uncertain. I hope you’ll be willing to share, even if you can’t donate. Sharing this will contribute more than you realize.
