Help Roy beat leukaemia

Roy's anchor has always been his faith.

Growing up in southern Lebanon, he and his family have faced more than their share of hardships. The third child amongst four brothers, Roy was a pillar of strength for his family after their father's sudden death last year. Now, Roy is facing his own battle - but he refuses to be crushed.

My name is Michel and I've set up this GoFundMe page to help my dear friend Roy Nohra through his current ordeal.

Roy is 42 years old and lives in Beirut, Lebanon, with his wife Nicole and their two children, Joe (8 years old) and Mia (5 years old).

Roy was recently diagnosed with leukaemia. As a result of Lebanon's severe economic decline over the past few years, Roy's income has diminished by nearly 95%. Nicole lost her job during Covid and has been unable to find work. They don't have medical insurance to help cover the mounting medical bills.

In order to have a chance at survival, alongside chemotherapy, Roy must undergo eight cycles of intense medication over the next two years, as well as a bone marrow transplantation surgery. The medication Roy has been prescribed (Iclusig-Ponatinib) has proven to be effective against leukaemia, but it is extremely costly. The combination of treatments and hospital bills is expected to cost $150,000.

Roy - who is very humble and proud - was reluctant to allow us to ask for help in covering his medical bills. But he has two young children to live for and he wants to see them grow up. His faith is strong and he's in good spirits, but he needs your help to manage the financial side of this battle.
