I’m setting up this GoFundMe for my sister and brother-in-law, Roy, and their family.

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Roy went to the emergency room thinking he was suffering from kidney stones. After a CT scan, doctors discovered he had diverticulitis. He was sent home with pain medication and antibiotics, but by Tuesday morning, his condition had worsened significantly.

Roy was rushed back to the ER, where a second CT scan revealed that his colon had ruptured. He was taken into emergency surgery, during which doctors removed the diseased portion of his colon and reconnected the healthy sections. He now has an ostomy bag to allow his colon to heal. Once his colon has recovered, he will need to undergo a second surgery to reconnect everything and close the abdominal wall.

As many of you know, Roy is self-employed and works in manual labor as a mobile diesel technician. Unfortunately, he will not be able to return to work until he is fully healed from both surgeries, an estimated recovery time of 24 to 30 weeks.

This unexpected medical emergency has caused a significant financial strain on Roy and his family. The funds raised will go toward medical expenses, household bills, and living costs while Roy focuses on healing and recovery.
