Help Roy, A Disabled Vet, Retire
Donation protected
My brother, a Gulf War Naval Veteran, needs help. A hardworking postal worker he has no cartilage in his left knee and scoliosis that make his physically demanding job difficult. But those are not the issues he faces today. Recently, he's been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder along with Major Depressive Disorder. His wife Angie suffers from an auto immune disorder and PTSD from a past assault, which requires her to work a light full time job. With Roy not working, she'd be the sole breadwinner.
Roy, who has been hospitalized twice in the last month, is at the breaking point. He has a profound hearing loss from his service in Operation Desert Storm. He is a supervisor at the post office and has missed weeks of work. In addition to the mental illness, he has struggled with his knee, back and a damaged rotator cuff which has drained his sick leave to near zero. He walks with a cane, always in pain.
Roy can't work anymore.
Roy is the type of guy who would do anything for anyone in need. He is the big guy with a joke, even when he's hurting. As his big brother, I can say, from an early age, he hasn't had many breaks in life. Our childhood wasn't easy and he always seemed to get the short end of the stick. But he never asked anyone for anything. He's borne his burden with a smile and a joke. He can't laugh anymore.
The Post Office says it will take up to a year for him to retire with disability. He needs a lawyer to check into that. He also needs to make up for income he lost for being out so often.
Your support would mean everything to Roy, his seventeen year old son, Dean and his wife Angie. And it would make his big brother and all his family have new hope for humanity.
