Roxy spent the first year of her life with us learning how to be safe, loved, and unafraid. Now, just as she has finally found her home, she is losing her sight.
Roxy came to us as a severe rescue case in 2023 after the local rescue we foster for asked us to take her from an emergency situation. When she arrived, she was completely shut down, not leaving the guest room for the first week. Over time, she bonded with one of our other dogs, learned how to play again, and slowly began to trust us. It took six months before she would approach us, and nearly a full year before she felt safe enough to jump up on the bed and snuggle.
By then, we had fallen completely in love with her, and we knew we could not ask her to start over with another family, so we decided to adopt her.
Now Roxy has developed diabetes, which has caused severe cataracts in both eyes. She needs surgery to restore her vision and help her safely navigate the world again.
After losing one of our beloved pets on Thanksgiving and another to cancer on Valentine’s Day, our hearts and finances are stretched beyond what we can manage alone. We are devastated to be in a position where we have to ask for help, but we simply do not have the funds to cover Roxy’s surgery right now.
Your donation will go directly toward her retinal testing, with a low estimate of $1,651.60, and cataract surgery for both of Roxy’s eyes, with a low estimate of $5,635. This surgery would give her the chance to see again and allow us to continue caring for her safely in the home she worked so hard to trust.
Any amount helps, and even sharing Roxy’s story means the world to us. Thank you for helping us give our sweet girl the future she deserves.
