Help Roxy Get Back on Her Paws

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Roxy, and I just turned 2 years old. The last two years of my life have been a true adventure, filled with love, challenges, and miracles.

My story begins in October 2023, when my owner, Naomi, brought me home from the breeder. She was so excited to have a new puppy, and even better, her roommate Liza took home my brother so I wouldn’t be alone. Life was wonderful! We had the best puppy parents, who played with us, who loved us unconditionally, and who dressed us up (which, between us, I didn’t always love — but don’t tell them that!).

Then, on July 20, 2024, everything changed. I suffered a back injury that paralyzed my back legs. I couldn’t walk, run, or play like I used to. Naomi and her friend Liza rushed me to the emergency vet in Gainesville, Florida. The doctors said I could either have surgery costing $10,000 — with a 90% success rate — or take medications and go on strict kennel rest for 4–6 weeks. Naomi and Liza chose kennel rest, and by the end of the first week, I was walking again. It felt like a miracle!

Life returned to normal. I celebrated my first birthday with my brother in August. But on October 15, 2024, disaster struck again. On my way to the groomer with my other owner, Tony, his car was rear-ended. Scared, I broke free from my leash, ran across four lanes of traffic, and disappeared into the woods. The area was dangerous — near a homeless camp, flooded riverbanks, snakes, and even alligators. Naomi, Liza, Tony, family, and friends searched endlessly. After 14 days in the wild, I was found. I had fought to survive and made my way back to them.

I thought the worst was behind me… but on July 26, 2025, I re-injured my back and became paralyzed again. Two vets and a neurologist have examined me, but without an MRI — costing between $2,500 and $5,000 — they can’t confirm whether it’s a slipped disc, tumor, or something else. Surgery is $10,000 with only a 50/50 chance of success, and even then, the injury could return. That’s not an option for us.

The best path forward now is rest, physical therapy, and rehabilitation — but it’s costly, with weekly expenses adding up quickly. Naomi, Liza, and Tony are determined to give me the best chance to walk again, learn how to help me heal, and give me the life every dog deserves.

I’m making slow progress, but it’s going to be a long road. That’s why we’re asking for your help — to cover therapy sessions, equipment, and care that will improve my movement and help me enjoy my doggy life again.

From the bottom of my heart (and paws), thank you for reading my story and considering helping me get back on my feet. Every donation, share, and kind word makes a difference.

❤️ Love, Roxy, Teddy, Naomi, Liza & Tony
