Roxie & The Moon King is a neo-traditional folk duo from Springfield, Missouri, made up of singer-songwriters Jenna English and Michael Stanton Armstrong. Our music is rooted in rich harmonies, poetic lyrics, and a blend of traditional folk with modern indie-pop influences.
We met at the Sertoma Chili Cook Off, and after an instant connection, we began writing songs together. Within a month, we had an album’s worth of originals and a shared dream to attend a songwriting retreat with Andrea Stolpe. That dream set us on a journey, performing across the country and building a community of supporters who have encouraged us every step of the way.
Now, we’re ready to take the next big step: releasing our first two EPs of original music. The first EP is set for release on August 22nd, and we hope to follow with a second 3-song EP this fall. To make this possible, we’re raising funds to cover studio recording, pay our talented musicians, handle mixing and mastering, create physical copies, commission artwork, and promote our music. Having these originals released will open doors to festivals, competitions, and new opportunities that require a legitimate platform of original work. This milestone is essential for our growth and ability to reach new audiences.
We are deeply grateful for everyone who has supported us—musicians who have inspired us, audience members who have shared their stories, and all who believe in our journey. Your support will help us share these songs, which mean so much to us and to those who have connected with them. With your help, we can finally bring our music to the world and continue building something meaningful together.
