Help Roxie Beat Cancer – Love, Faith, and Second Chances
Hi, my name is Kisha, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of hope and a deep love for my sweet dog, Roxie.
Roxie came into my life in 2015 when I lived in California. From the moment I brought her home, she brought joy, comfort, and healing into my world—especially during some of the most difficult and painful times of my life. Through sickness, struggle, and heartache, Roxie was there—faithful, playful, protective, and full of love. She has always had a heart for people and other dogs, even standing up for her friends at doggie daycare. She’s sweet, spirited, and bright—a true blessing from God.
In 2019, when I moved back to Washington, life threw another curveball. My health declined, and I wasn’t able to care for Roxie the way she deserved. I entrusted her to a relative who cared for her, and I visited as often as I could. But soon after, my relative could no longer keep her, and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome Roxie. It shattered me. I prayed every day that somehow, some way, God would bring her back into my life.
I never stopped praying. Every day—through 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and into 2024—I continued to ask God to make a way. I never gave up hope.
Then, in December of 2024, after a long and difficult week, I prayed once again—asking God for a surprise blessing. And the very next day, I received a call from Roxie’s microchip company: she had been found and was at a local animal shelter.
I couldn’t believe it.
I rushed to the shelter, and the moment Roxie saw me, she ran into my arms—tail wagging, heart full. She remembered me. She was still the same loving, beautiful soul I had known and missed so dearly. It was nothing short of a miracle. We were finally together again.
But our journey took another unexpected turn. I noticed a small wound above her tail and took her to the vet. At first, we thought it was minor. But after tests and biopsies, Roxie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of mast cell cancer. Despite trying multiple chemo treatments, the tumor has not responded and continues to grow.
The next step in her care is radiation therapy, which offers her the best chance at fighting this cancer—but it comes with a high price tag: around $6,000, not including additional imaging, testing, and ongoing care.
I’m doing everything I can to support her, but I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your help.
