Laying Roxanne To Rest.

Hi, my name is Danielle Armendariz daughter Of Roxanne Armendariz. I am setting up this go fund me on behalf of my mother and family. The photo displayed of my mom was taken during her better days. When she was awake and alert she specifically asked that we not use a sad picture, but instead a happy one to remember the person she hopes to be once more.

My mother is one of the strongest most resilient women I’ve ever met. A few years ago she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and that took a major toll on not only her physical health but mental health as well. She went on to receive chemo therapy as well as 26 rounds of radiation to make sure the cancer was eradicated. It was a difficult time for my family and me but with Gods grace we made it through. We never thought that after going into remission we would find ourselves in the situation we are now in.

My mother is currently hospitalized at in the Transplant ICU center at UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital. She finds herself in a very grave condition. She’s been hospitalized since February 1st with no date to come home. While in ICU she’s had pneumonia, a lung infection, 24/7 dialysis for failing kidneys, and most recently was intubated twice, once for what nurses thought was a possible stroke (luckily she was cleared) and the second most recent one to help treat a lung infection as this was causing her to need 96% assisted oxygen. This is all just a minor summary of what my mother and family have been dealing with for the last few weeks. The end goal of this whole process is a new liver, a completely new one. Without it, we quite honestly don’t know how much life she would have left to live.

As you can imagine this has put a huge financial strain on my family as well as taken a huge toll on our mental health. I have a 12 year old brother and sometimes it gets hard to explain to him (without scaring him) what our mother is currently going through. At the moment my father is the primary bread winner as I’ve had to adjust my own schedule to help where I can at home be it preparing dinner or picking up my brother from school. My moms insurance coverage depends on my fathers ability to continue working. My mom would help contribute to the bills but now it all falls on him and I try and help wherever I can. This has been a very stressful situation as we try and maneuver our day to day agenda around my mothers current condition in the hospital. Some days she’s doing really well and sadly other days not so much.

We are aware that we have set a high goal but we also will take any help we can get whether it be donations or simply sharing our story, anything helps. At this point we still have not received what our out of pocket bill will be for the liver transplant but I’m sure it will be something we sadly wouldn’t have the means to pay for on our own. We sincerely appreciate all the love and support from the bottoms of our hearts. Thank you. We will keep you all updated as the process continues.
