Hey there... I'm Roxanne, 65, mom, grandmom, and generally nice person. Or at least I try to be. Lately, life has been handing me one punch in the gut after another. My vehicle has seen better days, and I'm struggling to keep it running. (I don't have the option to get a new one, as my credit isn't great.) My health also hasn't been good and is getting progressively worse.
Recently, I've been unable to work due to health issues. Diabetes, asthma/COPD overlap, hypertension, and a few other things have gotten in the way. Normally where I just power through the pain and discomfort, I became unable to do that. I finally ended up in the hospital.
It wasn't a long stay, but coupled with the inability to work because of the lead-up to it, it was enough to set me back significantly in my bill-paying. I'm behind in my rent and utilities, and am unable to afford food, except for the visits to the local food pantry.
I need to make sure I don't lose my home, my phone, and my internet. I'm self-employed, which allows me the flexibility to take the breaks I need so I can function. And at my age, I doubt that I can find a job that will be so forgiving. (Not to mention the fact that most workplaces will expect that I'll retire soon. Realistically, I'll never be able to retire.)
Basically, this is my last-ditch effort. I've called agencies, professionals, charities. My options have been exhausted. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
