I am starting this fundraiser for my family after a terrifying accident during Hurricane Lala. In the middle of the storm, all bus routes had stopped, but one of my family members was stranded in town with no bus routes and no way home we drove from Makaha to Honolulu to pick them up. On the way home, the roads were extremely dangerous from the heavy rain, strong wind, and debris. While on the freeway, another driver changed lanes without paying attention and nearly hit our vehicle. We swerved from the middle lane to the far left, spun out, and slammed into the cement median. The entire passenger side of our vehicle was badly damaged, the airbags deployed, and we were told the vehicle may be a total loss. We had not even had this vehicle for a full month, and it feels like all of our hard work is gone.

I am a mother of seven, and losing our vehicle has put my family in a very difficult position. My youngest child has had health complications since birth and needs frequent hospital visits, so reliable transportation is not a luxury for us, it is something we truly cannot go without. The support from this fundraiser will help us work toward replacing our vehicle and getting my children safely where they need to go, especially to medical appointments. Please help if you can.
