Help Roxana return to Peru and have a second chance!

Hi, I am Vanesa and I'm fundraising to help my sister Roxana Tataje get home and have a second chance with rehabilitation. She had a brain hemorrhage at the end of August 2025 while she was visiting me in Berlin. She had a brain surgery that luckily saved her life, she spent almost 3 weeks in ICU and is currently in intermediate care unit. She needs rehabilitation and several neurological procedures due to a brain malformation. All this process needs to be done back home in Peru where she is insured.

As any other tourist, she bought a travel insurance to cover the costs in case of emergency or unforeseen events during her stay in Germany. After hospitalization we informed the insurance and requested to cover the hospital and transportation costs to send her back home to Peru.

The travel insurance informed us that they could only cover a small amount of the hospital costs and definitely not cover the transportation costs. An air ambulance is needed since she is not fit to fly back to Peru on a normal commercial flight. She has lost almost all motor and language skills and she is supported by enteral nutrition and a tracheostomy, which means she requires frequent professional care.

In their view what my sister had is related to a pre-existing illness, which is not the case. Roxana was never diagnosed or had any obvious symptoms of a brain malformation. These costs total around 350K EUR. As you might understand this is imposible for my family to fully cover. We have contacted the Peruvian Embassy to help with the transport but the only thing they might be able to offer us is a loan since they only provide direct help in case of natural catastrophes or war.

Your help will be used to cover at least the transport and some of the hospital bill in Berlin. We know that in her current state recovery is not guaranteed but we want to give her a chance to fight for her life and recover some of the skills that she lost due to the hemorrhage.
