Help a trans man get his legal name and gender changed!

Hi! My name is Roux and I'm a 19 year old trans man trying to get my name and gender marker changed. My current living situation is very unsafe as a trans person, I deal with misgendering, deadnaming, and berating on a daily basis. I'm trying to get everything in place to be able to move out and go to college. Getting my name and gender marker changed would do wonders in helping me avoid discrimination when looking for jobs and apartments once I am able to move out. I also need to have a passport with my correct name and gender on it in the event that the US is no longer safe for trans people. At this point with the current poll numbers for the 2024 election in the US, that is not an unrealistic fear in the slightest, and I would like to be prepared for the worst.

Unfortunately, it costs a way too much money for me to change my name and gender marker in the county I live in. The application fee for the petition alone is $310, and there's also several other fees for the courts and the process of changing my drivers license, passport, birth certificate etc. It would quite literally drain my bank account.

I wouldn't ask if it wasn't dire. Im afraid for my life, and due to being on testosterone, I just recently feel like I have actually started living. I just recently realized what it meant to experience genuine joy and feeling at home in my body. I don't want to live in fear, and a legal name and gender marker change would help immensely in securing my safety.
