Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
Our world has been turned upside down with devastating news. Ross, the incredible father of our four children and the heart of our household, has been diagnosed with uveal melanoma, a rare and aggressive form of eye cancer. For us, this news has been nothing short of life-altering.
Ross started experiencing flashes in his vision, and a few weeks ago, he went to an ophthalmologist to investigate, which led us to multiple doctors and specialists. After seeing a retinal specialist in Houston, because NO ONE practices ocular oncology in the state of Louisiana, we learned that Ross has a large tumor 17mm long and 6mm high in his right eye, covering almost the entire back of his eye. If the human eyeball is the size of a quarter, this tumor is relatively the size of a dime.
This diagnosis is not just about cancer – it’s about the future of our family. Ross is a stay-at-home parent and the gear that keeps our family running. He’s the one who ensures our kids are loved, cared for, and supported every day. Now, with this diagnosis, everything has changed.
On September 17th, Ross will undergo a radiation treatment where a specialized implant will be placed on his eye to directly target the tumor. After a week in Houston for the treatment, the implant will be removed. Although we’re holding on to hope, doctors have warned us that Ross will likely lose vision in his right eye within 12-18 months. We’ll also be making regular trips back to Houston for the unforeseen future for ongoing monitoring and follow-up care to ensure the cancer doesn’t return or spread.
This diagnosis has hit us hard – emotionally, physically, and financially. We’re now facing medical bills, travel expenses for continuous treatment, and the overwhelming uncertainty of what lies ahead for Ross and our family.
We are asking for your help. Donations will go directly toward:
- Ross’s medical treatments and radiation therapy
- Travel and lodging expenses for trips back and forth to Houston
- Support for our family during this incredibly difficult time
Ross has always been the backbone of our household, and now he needs us more than ever. Your support, whether through donations, sharing our story, or keeping us in your thoughts and prayers, will make a world of difference as we face this uncertain journey.
Thank you for standing with us, Ross, and our family during this critical time. We appreciate your love and support more than words can express.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Megann & Ross
