About Rosie:
My name is Courtenay, I’m Rosie’s mom.
Rosie is a fluffy pembrook welsh corgi, she is 5 years old and a rescue from China.
Rosie came into my life just over a year ago. She was rescued through an organization who saves animals from the meat trade. At the time, I was looking to help the organization foster a dog after just losing my dog Henry and that’s when I saw Rosie’s picture and couldn’t resist. I’ve wanted a Corgi since I was a little girl and had to adopt her. A short month later, her flight arrives in Canada and she’s been by my side ever since. She has brought so much joy to my life and many others ever since. I really don’t know what I would do without her.
Rosie’s situation:
On Friday October 19th, Rosie came to work with me, just as she always does, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Out of the blue, Rosie started running around and yelping in pain, collapsed and quivered, she started going pale and became lethargic. Luckily, I work in a clinic and we were able to get x-rays done. When the results came back, it showed Rosie had some free fluid in her abdomen. She was then rushed to the Hamilton Regional Emergency Veterinary Clinic where the staff provided her with pain management and an ultrasound, they found what they believed at the time to be a mass near her kidneys and a small amount of fluid.
The doctors recommended a specialist to come and complete her ultrasound, however, they were not available until the following Monday. Rosie was then hospitalized to treat her symptoms and be monitored.
On Monday October 23rd, she received the ultrasound and it was confirmed, she in fact had a 3cm mass on her right adrenal gland. The doctors are unsure if this mass is cancerous or benign. Sadly, due to where this mass is, it’s a complicated procedure and it is recommended to get a CT scan. (Which has been booked for this upcoming Friday October, 27th)
This CT scan will help provide the surgeon and doctors with more information ie: where the mass is, if it’s spread into her other organs or if it can even be removed. If it turns out it is possible to remove this mass, Rosie will need surgery. Depending on how the surgery goes, she may also require a blood transfusion and have to stay in the ICU due to the nature of where the mass is located.
Should the CT reveal results that a surgery can be performed, Rosie has a long fight and recovery up ahead of her. If everything works out, the total cost of treatment could be 10 grand or higher. If the surgeon feels the surgery is not possible after her results, we will sadly have to be looking at palliative care for Rosie.
Im asking anyone, if they are able to help so I can try and save my baby. She doesn’t deserve what’s happening to her and just started her new life after living a horrible one back in China.
I will do anything I can to save her. This was all so sudden and unexpected, I am beside myself and terrified for Rosie.
Costs:
The current amount is related to her bill at HREVC as well as her CT scan coming up at Oak Park.
I know many can be uncomfortable with the idea of donating towards a go fund me… you can also if you chose, donate directly to the clinics.

Thank you for taking the time for reading Rosie’s story, even if a donation is not possible, we could really use some prayers.
