Help Roshi Overcome Hyperthyroidism
Donation protected
If you don’t know Roshi, he is the happiest, sweetest little guy. He absolutely adores people and is always the life of the party. He’s a little too smart for his own good, and sometimes it gets him into trouble, but it often provides entertainment for his humans. He dotes on his little brother, Robbie, and loves to wrestle him and show him how it’s done!
Roshi was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism last year. As a result, it is difficult for him to keep weight on, his appetite is through the roof and therefore always feels hungry, and his hydration is almost never satisfied. This condition also causes him to vomit with some frequency.
After several months of medication, he is showing little improvement, and is still suffering. He isn’t putting on weight (currently 9.5lbs, but he is supposed to be about 13lbs) and his thyroid levels are supposed to be around 4 but it hasn’t gone below 9 even with upping the potency of his dosage. He is at risk of kidney complications if it doesn’t get below that level soon.
Not all hope is lost though! He is currently waiting for his consultation appointment for iodine therapy, which could permanently cure him of his thyroid issues. This works by injecting the radioactive isotope (Iodine-131) which is absorbed by the thyroid gland and destroys the problematic tissue.
Needless to say, we want to help him have a full life with his family who loves him, free from the suffering of this condition. That is where you come in! This procedure, as well as the cost of his follow up appointments, are out of our budget and we can’t find pet insurance that will cover it at this point.
Your donations will go towards the following:
- his consultation appointment (April 29th)
- iodine therapy (which includes several days of a hospital stay)
- his follow-up appointments directly related to the therapy
Any excess donations will be donated to Heartland Humane Society, which is where we found this beautiful boy and his brother early last year.
Please help our wonderful boy be the healthiest little guy he can be!
Thank you for reading and for your support! Even if you don’t have the means to donate, just sharing this will mean the world to us.
