Rosetta is a retired neonatal nurse and recently lost her entire retirement savings after seeking online help for a computer issue. She is now struggling to cover her basic needs while living with multiple sclerosis. Please read and share her story, and consider donating to help support her at this difficult time.
Hi, my name is Rosetta. I'm 72 years old and a retired neonatal nurse practitioner. I devoted 41 years of my life to nursing, beginning my career in 1977. I later returned to school to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and ultimately my Master’s degree, graduating in 2001 as a Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Caring for vulnerable premature babies was not just my profession, it was my calling. I worked alongside physicians to provide critical medical care and to support families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. These babies were deeply meaningful to me, especially as I was not blessed with children of my own. I retired in 2020, believing I had earned a season of rest after decades of service.
What Happened
In September 2025, my life changed unexpectedly. After my computer stopped working, I searched online for technical assistance. Unfortunately, the individuals I connected with were not legitimate service providers. Over time, I was persuaded to make financial decisions I believed were safe. I later learned that these interactions were part of a fraudulent scheme. As a result, I lost my retirement funds and personal savings.
Where I Am Now
I am currently facing serious financial hardship. I am struggling to keep up with rent and housing expenses, afford food and basic necessities, cover transportation costs, and pay medical bills and prescription medications. I also live with multiple sclerosis, and the stress of this experience has worsened my symptoms. Asking for help is incredibly difficult, but I am doing so because I have no other option right now.
Why I’m Sharing My Story
I am sharing this not only to seek help, but also to raise awareness. These situations can happen quietly and gradually, especially to seniors and individuals with health or mobility challenges. If my experience helps even one person pause, verify, and protect themselves, then speaking up matters.
Funds raised will help with rent and housing stability, food and daily living expenses, transportation needs, and medical bills and essential medications. This support will help me regain stability as I work toward recovery. Thank you for reading, sharing, and offering kindness during one of the most difficult chapters of my life.
With sincere gratitude,
Rosetta
