Help Rosemica have surgery for her tumor!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm raising funds for Rosemica who urgently needs an operation! Rosemica is a 27 yr old woman who lives in Saint Jean du Sud, a very rural, very remote tiny village in far southwestern Haiti. Rosemica has a very large bony tumor ( osteofibroma) of the left side of her jaw. She needs surgery!!

Rosemica first noticed a tiny growth in her mouth years ago after a tooth was pulled. The area continued to grow and is now almost the size of her fist!

Rosemica needs extremely specialized surgery. It requires removing the tumor and the left side of her jaw, then replacing the jaw with a bone graft using a bone from her lower leg. It will need about 8 hours in the OR, 3-4 days in the ICU, a week or more in the hospital, and another month of follow-up while she heals!

Rosemica searched to find a doctor who could help her but nobody in Haiti has the skills or the specialized operating equipment needed. Then the pandemic struck --she had to stop searching while the tumor got bigger. Finally, in January 2023, she visited Dr. Vardi Laroque, a dentist in Les Cayes, Haiti, who asked me if I could assist Rosemica to find the help she needs so badly.

A wonderful kind surgeon in Colorado will donate his skills. But, sadly, the hospital can't donate the hospital costs. They estimate the self-pay discounted costs for her care at $80,000!!

Please help us raise the funds to provide this young woman with the operation she so badly needs! Please, can you help? No amount is too small if many people donate a little! We believe in the power of many people serving together!

We can obtain a visa for her and can pay her travel costs. We have located a nurse who is offering her housing and care while she heals.

UPDATE: We've applied for a visa under the lottery program ( the "Biden" visa) and hope she will be lucky enough to have her name drawn! The US Consulate in Haiti is currently on hold for regualr visa applications and appointments so we are hoping she will win the lottery!

UPDATE: We visited with Rose again in Haiti in January 2024. She continues to pray that she will have the good fortune to obtain a humanitarian visa under the Biden program.
