My Sister RoseMary was admitted to the hospital for the first time back on 7/31. Doctors found a very big tumor that caused her the loss of several organs most importantly colon and bladder. Colonoscopy was treated very well and months later doctor performed reconstructive surgery. Unfortunately, the urostomy didn’t work quite well. Due to her rapid weight loss and excess loose skin the urostomy bag doesn’t stay in place, she also has a second bag that drains an internal leak and two tubes in her back that are attached to her kidneys. For a few months, this is what we have been dealing with as her body struggles to adjust. Right after thanksgiving her right eye started hurting along with her left leg plus a lump by her jaw. She’s got Deep vein thrombosis (Blood Clots) in both legs, she can’t walk or even stand on her own, Clots with time and medication can be treated this just makes her current situation more difficult and very painful for her. Now the main reason and our most urgent concern is the Mass that was found in her eye, the hospital she was at didn’t have the equipment or specialists and the fact that she’s not insured did not make this situation any easier so they diagnosed her as terminal and was sent home to hospice. I hope everyone can understand why we couldn’t take that diagnosis, so we took it upon ourselves to drive her to a hospital with ophthalmology surgeons. It’s close to five months of my sister having all these issues and although we are so very grateful for the doctors and nurses that have been attending her we know her lack of insurance has played the biggest role in the decisions made/NOT made towards her rehabilitation and we are now asking for your help because my sister deserves the opportunity in life to see and raise her son along side her. Your help is greatly appreciated in times of need.
