Rose & Oliver need your help!

After years of nonprofit work serving her community, Rose experienced a layoff in late November 2023. What should have been a time of navigating career transition, quickly changed after she sustained a debilitating injury to her neck the very next week, and began what would turn into an 18-month battle with insurance to approve the surgery she needed.

With the support of her medical teams and her community, Rose was finally able to win her appeals and had spinal surgery last month to correct the issue. Recovery is going well, but this prolonged ordeal has depleted her savings including everything she had saved from years of work to put towards a home of their own, and instead left Rose and her son Oliver in a vulnerable position with both their lease and their housing assistance set to expire next month.

Rose is a hard-working single mother and DV survivor who has dedicated herself to the service of humanity and in being the sole provider for her son who she has been shepherding through a mental health crisis and the legal steps needed to protect him, all during this same period while she grappled with her own medical dilemma.

Rose and Oliver need our help to make it over this last hump, to give Rose the time she needs to fully heal and return to her work helping others, and to lift the spirits and burdens of this amazing mom and human who we all love, and her sweet son who’s been through so much.

Any funds raised will not only help them to have more ease in their day to day and help cover minor expenses and out-of-reach necessities, but will help them stay housed during the recovery period and provide Oliver with some of the out of pocket supports he needs to heal as well.

While any amount helps, if the full goal is met, this goes beyond short term help and would allow them to build the tiny home of their own that Rose and Oliver have long dreamed of and worked so hard towards, gifting them with true long term housing security and a better future for Oliver. Rose has several offers of places to put a tiny home if she only had access to one.

So I’m here with a heart full of humble gratitude for the help we’ve received to even make it this far, and for the help we’re asking for now.
