Thank you for taking the time for Rose's GoFundMe fundraiser for a seizure Alert dog!
Rose was born with Roberts Syndrome, a condition so rare there were only about 30 known cases worldwide at her birth.
She’s faced incredible challenges from day one, including congenital heart defects, critical lung issues, a cleft lip and palate, compromised immunity, missing limbs, and severe epilepsy. Even with daily medication and emergency rescue meds always on hand, her seizure clusters can be life-threatening. Once, Rose had a seizure cluster that lasted three days nonstop, and we had to stop at every hospital along the way to get her the care she needed. Rose takes 24-hour care. The unpredictability of her seizures means we are always on alert.
Even on Rose's hardest days, Rose is kind and sweet and thoughtful, always asking how others are doing.
A seizure alert dog would be life-changing for Rose and our family. These specially trained dogs can sense oncoming seizures, alert to caregivers, and provide support during and after episodes. Even a few minutes could give us the time to pull over and or get the care Rose is going to need no matter where we are.
The cost is significant due to the specialized training required. We have found a wonderful trainer we are working with—learn more at https://mikeburkel.com/. Mike is a respectable trainer; he is very knowledgeable in helping you in what will work for the specific needs for you or your loved one.
