On July 6th, 2026, my grandma’s home in Toledo, WA, was completely destroyed by a sudden oxygen tank explosion and a devastating fire. My grandma, Rose, is currently at Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Rose and her family are never ones to ask for help, but they will be the first to jump in to help others. So, I am doing what they would never be comfortable doing and asking our wonderful community for help. Once she pulls through—because she is a tough old lady—I might end up in a hospital bed right next to her for making this GoFundMe! (Just kidding, sort of.) She is one of the most stubborn people I know, and that’s exactly why we know she’s going to get through this.
Absolutely every single thing Grandma owned was destroyed in the blaze. Decades of memories are just gone. Every photo album, holiday card, every piece of jewelry, every drawing her grandkids ever colored for her, all of her clothing and daily necessities—gone. She wasn’t the only one affected. My Aunt Leah, uncle, and cousins lived with her too, and the only thing they have left are the clothes on their backs.
Which brings me to the second most stubborn person I know: my Aunt Leah. She is carrying the crushing weight of the world on her shoulders right now, too overwhelmed to even know where to begin asking for or receiving help.
So, at the expense of my own toosh, I am starting this GoFundMe to take some of the pressure off my family. They are starting over from absolute zero. All funds raised will go directly toward immediate essentials like clothing, shoes, and hygiene products for the whole family, travel expenses to and from Harborview, and basic necessities such as food and temporary shelter. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Rose and our family in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate every single bit of support more than words can say.
