Hi everyone this is Katelyn and Corey!
Tonight was one of those nights that changes you. While Corey was at work, he witnessed something that completely broke his heart something he just couldn’t walk away from. In that moment, he felt God speak to him so clearly, placing it on his heart to step in and help someone who is truly struggling.
When he told me what happened, I could feel the emotion in his voice. We both knew this wasn’t just a coincidence, it was a calling. So I helped him to create this GoFundMe to give hope, compassion, and support to someone who needs it more than ever.
Sometimes God puts people in our path for a reason, and we believe this is one of those moments. If you feel led, please read Corey’s story below, share it, and join us in helping make a difference. Even the smallest act of kindness can change a life. ❤️
Corey’s Story:
I’ve never done anything like this before, but God has called me to help, and I’m going to answer. I work as a delivery driver for Wal-Mart as a side job to make some extra money. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Rose, a sweet, elderly, Vietnam Veteran. This sweet soul is barely surviving, and I mean, barely surviving. Rose is living off of peanut butter and turkey sandwiches. Rose met me outside as I pulled up with her groceries, with several layers of clothes, scarves around her neck, and her Vietnam Veteran hat. I knew immediately that she needed help and that I would do everything in my power to be that help for her. Her house has no insulation and the small plug-in heater she has doesn’t help much at all. Her house is heated by propane; I’m not exactly sure how all that works, but I know she is saving what little propane she has left for when it’s the coldest. She needs anything she can get ASAP! I gave her my number and she gave me hers. I gave her what little money I had on me and the jacket I had in my car. I offered to get her anything she wanted tonight, but she declined. I’m still going to check on her constantly and help her as much as I can. She gave me a gold coin and said she has had that coin for over 25 years; a former Vietnam Veteran soldier gave it to her decades ago when she saved his life in war. She gave that coin to me and said that man has since passed and now she believes I am sent to be her Guardian Angel. I cried on that sweet woman’s porch. I’ll be checking on her every day for the rest of her life. I’m going to do everything I can, but I can’t do it on my own. If anyone would be willing and able to donate, please do so here! I will be helping to provide her with all the necessities to make it easier for her to survive this winter!
