Hi everyone,

We’re the Hoffman Family, and this is Rosco — our 12-year-old Chocolate Lab and the heart of our home. Rosco has been with us through every chapter of our lives. I brought him home the very day I moved into my first house, and since then, he’s been part of everything — getting married, having our child, moving to Texas, and all of life’s ups and downs.

Rosco wasn’t just at our wedding — he was in it. He proudly wore a little tuxedo and stood up front with the groomsmen like one of the guys. That moment perfectly sums him up: loyal, full of personality, and always wanting to be part of the family.

When I worked at our family wrecking yard, Rosco came to work with me every day, spending his time in my mom’s cashier’s office greeting customers and making everyone smile. He’s more than a pet — he’s family. He’s our son’s best friend, my mom’s “grand-dog,” and the happiest, most loving dog you could ever meet.

Recently, Rosco was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis, a condition that makes it hard for him to breathe. It slowly worsened until he had two terrifying episodes where he collapsed, unable to get air. His tongue and mouth turned purple, and both times we had to rush him to the emergency vet. The second time, he needed to be intubated and put on oxygen just to survive.

The only way to save him was an emergency “tie-back” surgery to open his airway. Both our regular vet and the emergency vet said it was absolutely worth doing because Rosco is otherwise so healthy and full of life. The surgery was a success — and Rosco is now breathing easier and recovering well.

The total cost for Rosco’s emergency surgery and two ER visits came to over $6,000, which we had to put on CareCredit. We weren’t financially prepared for that kind of expense, and it’s been a big strain on our family. Asking for help isn’t easy for us, but Rosco means the world to us — and we’re doing everything we can to give him the comfortable, happy life he deserves.

If you’re able to help in any way — by donating, sharing, or even just sending kind words — we would be deeply grateful. Every bit of support helps us recover from this unexpected expense and keep Rosco healthy and happy.

Rosco has been there for us through everything — even standing proudly beside us on our wedding day — and now we’re doing our best to be there for him. Thank you so much for taking the time to read his story and for any love, prayers, or support you can give. ❤️

With love and gratitude,
The Hoffman Family
