Support Rosalie’s Bone Marrow Transplant
Hi, my name is Luc, and I’m putting this fundraiser together for my 10 month old goddaughter, Rosalie, and for my sister Melissa and her husband Sylvain, as they get ready for Rosalie's upcoming bone marrow transplant.
At just ten months old, Rosalie has already faced more than most do in a lifetime. She was born with a very rare congenital blood disorder called sideroblastic anemia, which means her body can’t produce healthy red blood cells properly. Since birth, she has required ongoing medical care, including blood transfusions every two to three weeks and weekly blood work to closely monitor her condition.
The good news is that doctors have found a matching donor for a bone marrow transplant. This procedure could allow Rosalie’s body to start producing healthy blood cells on its own and give her the chance at a much more normal, healthy future. Without it, she will remain dependent on blood transfusions for the rest of her life.
Rosalie will need chemotherapy and other medications to prepare her body for the transplant. Afterward, her immune system will be extremely fragile, and she will need ongoing medications and close medical supervision while her body adjusts to the new stem cells.
The transplant will take place in Toronto, where they will need to stay for at least four months so Rosalie can receive the specialized care and monitoring she needs. During this time, Melissa and Sylvain's entire focus will be on Rosalie's treatment and recovery.
Being away from home for that long comes with added expenses — time off work, temporary housing, travel, and many unexpected costs along the way. We’re hoping to ease some of that financial pressure so that Melissa and Sylvain can focus on supporting Rosalie through this next chapter without the added stress of worrying about bills at home or months away from work.
If you’re able to contribute, any amount really helps. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
