Help Rosa Maria Silva Get a Life-Saving Transplant
Donation protected
Good day to everyone and anyone that reads this, it is a bittersweet moment in these times. My name is Mario Silva Jr, and I am starting a campaign to raise money for my mom Rosa (Rosie) Maria A. Silva. A little about my mother’s backstory, my mom was born and raised in El Paso Texas and has lived here all her life. Starting off at a youthful age in the Secundo Barrio and gradually relocating to the lower valley. She is a Bel Air graduate and has been a part of so many things within her community. My mother is 67 years old and needs financial help because of her medical condition. A mother of three, me being the oldest, she also has grandkids that she loves very much. My mother is a loving, caring person that to this day tries to help as many people as possible, just a great humanitarian. My mother has made so many friends that she considers family and does not want to burden anyone with her situation. But I cannot turn my back on the person that raised me and taught me how to be a good person. I must try and exhaust all options to try and help my mom live longer and this is I feel is the last option. We never thought that we would be in this situation, but desperate times call for desperate measures, I am sure you all agree. I have added links to better explain what each symptom is, to help better understand.
Recently she has gone through so much being in and out of the hospital. See, my mom has end stage liver failure, cirrhosis of the liver (non-alcoholic) its genetic. Not only that but she also suffers from diabetes, congestive heart failure (has a pacemaker) among other things. We did not think that she would be with us today, being so fragile these past couple of years and it has been challenging to remain optimistic. But we both believe in a higher power, and we believe that there is light after darkness. She suffers tremendously, day in and day out because of the cirrhosis she has esophageal varices and hemorrhages severely. She also has ascites and now pleural effusion (which recently put her on a ventilator). She was supposed to have a procedure TIPSS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Porto-Systemic Shunt). But her cardiologist stated that she would not have a chance for survival because of her congestive heart failure. But she continues to fight, she wants to live, she loves life, and does not take it for granted.
My mom does have Medicare and Medicaid and she is getting all the assistance that her insurance allows which has indeed lessened her burden, but we are still faced with the 20% that Medicare does not cover. The cost for a liver transplant is in the hundreds of thousands. These are just estimate amounts from an article that was updated in Jan of 2024 showing the number for the transplant as of 2020 (Expenses). We are asking to raise 150,000.00, which is still less than 20% of the estimated cost in the expenses linked above. If we can do more that would truly be a blessing.
“The Light,” there are over 17,000 people that are on the waiting list for a transplant and my mom is now one of them. The first appointments are set for 09/06 - 09/13 in San Antonio Texas at the Methodist Transplant Institute. There is hope, we believe that all this happening is God’s hand. Again, we are not asking you to break the bank, we know it is hard to part from your hard-earned money. But we are asking for you to contribute what you can and share this with everyone so we can get more donations to reach our goal. Thank you so much for your time, and God bless you for your efforts.
My apologies, I didnt realize that the links that I had put in did not populate. So here is where I got my information. You can copy paste the links below to your url. Thank you.
