The Roosevelt Middle School Band & Orchestra (San Francisco) needs our community’s help.
Each year, Roosevelt’s band and orchestra students travel somewhere in California to participate in a student music festival organized by Forum Music Festivals. These festivals bring together middle and high school ensembles from across the state to perform, learn, and receive feedback from professional music educators.
For many Roosevelt students, this performance trip is the highlight of their year. It gives them the chance to represent their school, perform in a formal setting, and experience the power of music as a team.
Unfortunately, funding cuts mean the group must now raise the funds for this trip independently.
The goal is to raise $24,115 by March 26 so that all 141 Roosevelt music students can attend this year’s festival in Santa Cruz.
The good news - The students have already stepped up in a big way!
As of March 11, Roosevelt music students have raised $6,215 through their own fundraising efforts over the past few days.
Their hard work shows just how much this opportunity means to them.
What the funds support
Donations will help cover:
• Transportation for students and instruments
• Festival participation fees
• Trip coordination and logistics
The Roosevelt music program is a vibrant part of the school community. These students rehearse for hours each week and regularly perform for their school and neighborhood.
As their teacher, Mr. Hwang, shared with families:
“Your support motivates our students to learn and gives them a real sense of purpose in what they're doing in the classroom.”
We are committed to ensuring that every Roosevelt music student can participate, regardless of financial circumstances, and community support will make that possible.
How you can help
Every contribution helps bring these young musicians closer to performing together at this year’s festival.
You can also help by sharing this campaign with friends, family, and colleagues.
Thank you for supporting Roosevelt’s musicians and helping keep music thriving in our public schools.
