Hello, my name is Rook and I'm one of three people including Bebop and Dr.Griswald (plus a mischievous dog, Lumi, and a cute cat, Senka) that call our current house home. In the last few years, my partner lost their job of roughly 10 years as part of the mass layoffs and turbulence in the tech industry. The timing hit us hard as we'd become home owners only 2 years before. The home we worked so hard to find, the dreams we've poured into it since, the garden the three of us tend daily and the comfort of having a place to call our own- all of it was suddenly in jeopardy.

As the primary earner in our household, Bebop has been desperately applying to Senior Software Engineering positions but so far, even the most promising interviews have led to disappointment.

We've held out as long as we could, going through all of our savings. These next few months are looking more and more perilous as we sell what we can and pinch every penny to sustain ourselves. Without extra support, we're in danger of losing our home. We've been furiously working out payment plans, mortgage forbearance, and budgeting. Now we've reached a point where we have to ask for help.

The encouragement of good friends has urged us not to keep trying to carry this burden by ourselves, but to reach out to our communities, found family, and friends. Privately, the situation has been crushing us. This was a beautiful reminder that even the heaviest burdens are lighter with helping hands.

If we can make it to next year, I'll have more income to help us sustain ourselves, and the longer we can buy time, the more chances Bebop has at finding a new job to stabilize our situation. Any funds raised will go towards helping support the three of us and our household: from bills, petcare, groceries, general expenses, healthcare, to work related needs due to my appearances for e-sports gigs and Dr.Griswald's upcoming convention tabling. Every dollar raised helps give us a greater baseline of security in these terrifyingly uncertain times.
