Hi! My name is Wendy. I am a mom of 4 kids and 7 fur babies. One of my babies, Roo, is in desperate need of medical attention. Roo is a 5-year-old deer head Chihuahua. On approximately September 28, she started having spasms in her neck. I called our vet and made an appointment. The soonest they could see her was the end of October.
Fast forward to October 6. Roo has been sleeping more than usual. Upon giving her a treat, we noticed that she just stood still. She did not attempt to take it. Upon further examination, we realized that she was now blind in her left eye. I called the vet back, and they told me to bring her in the next day. We now know that the twitching or neck spasms were focal seizures. Roo is now on anti-seizure medicine three times daily. A number of blood tests were performed, all of which were normal. Her blood pressure was normal; her eye pressure was normal. Everything was normal until the doctor mentioned brain lesions could be the culprit. Roo now needs to see a veterinary neurologist to properly diagnose her.
We do not want to see our sweet girl in pain. She must receive care as soon as possible. The longer we have to wait, the more damage is done to her vision and tiny brain. Please, anything helps. If you cannot donate, share. The more people who see this, the better our chances will be. Thank you for reading our story. Update: Roo has an appointment with Live Oak Veterinary Neurologist on Oct. 16th.
