Help Save Roo – A Loving Companion in Critical Condition
Roo is a 7-year-old Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix who found his forever home this past January when my dear friend Dan adopted him from our local humane society. From the start, Roo brought joy, laughter, and comfort into Dan’s life. They became inseparable—Roo quickly became Dan’s reason to get up every day, his loyal companion through life’s challenges.
Unfortunately, Roo is now fighting for his life.
What Happened
Late last week, a series of events changed everything. After their air conditioning failed during a heatwave, Roo started showing signs of distress—vomiting clear foam, refusing food, and growing lethargic. Dan rushed him to the emergency vet, but after waiting over 6 hours without being seen, he was told it would be several more hours. He was advised to monitor Roo and see his regular vet on Monday.
This morning, Dan’s worst fears were confirmed: Roo’s kidneys are failing, and his liver values are dangerously high, causing early jaundice. The diagnosis points to Leptospirosis, a severe bacterial infection that attacks the kidneys and liver. Without immediate and aggressive treatment—including hospitalization, IV fluids, and medications—Roo won’t survive.
Why We Need Your Help
Roo has been admitted to the emergency veterinary hospital where he’s receiving critical care. The estimated cost for just the first 36 hours of treatment is $8,000, and expenses could rise quickly depending on his progress.
Dan is on a fixed income, relying on Social Security while awaiting disability approval due to his own health struggles. He cannot afford these overwhelming medical bills on his own—but Roo deserves the chance to fight. He deserves the same love and care he has given so freely to Dan and everyone around him.
How You Can Help
Every donation—big or small—makes a difference. Your support will go directly toward Roo’s emergency care, covering:
Hospitalization & IV fluids
Medications & antibiotics
Continuous monitoring by the veterinary team
Additional testing and follow-up treatment
If you cannot donate, please share this campaign with friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere. Together, we can give Roo the fighting chance he deserves.
❤️ Thank you for helping Roo fight for his life. Your kindness means the world to Dan and Roo.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this critical time.
