Family of Ron Ribera request help with tragic loss

Saturday, July 23, 2022 my father woke up and started his day as he usually would. He got out of bed to make his coffee, shower and begin some yard work he wanted to get done before our family fishing trip the next day. He kissed my stepmother Margie good morning and told her he loved her letting her sleep in as she routinely does on Saturdays. She went back to sleep and then he walked out of the room.

Little did anyone know, that would be the last kiss he would ever give anyone again.

Margie was woken by my uncle knocking and then entering through the door, he was going to be helping them clean up the yard. She asked him “Hey did you see Ronny out in the yard on your way in?” And he replied “No maybe he is under the house.” Then he went to go use the restroom and noticed the light was on so he knocked on the door and with no response he opens the door and that’s when he saw my dad laying in the bathtub unresponsive.

They immediately called 911 and began CPR. Unfortunately their efforts to save him did not work. He had already passed..

Our whole family is in shock and in disbelief , we can’t wrap our brains around any of this. He was here with us one minute then in the blink of an eye he was gone.

There were no signs of trauma from falling. No bumps, bruises, cuts, lacerations, scrapes, abrasions or anything anywhere on his body he was just laying in the tub curled up in the fetal position lifeless.

He was only 54 years old and in good health. He was not ill, didn’t have any diseases or ailments. He hadn’t complained about any kind of chest pain or head aches or discomfort of any kind.

In fact just the previous day when he came home from the end of his work week Margie asked how his day had gone and he said that it went really well and he’d had a good day and that he was feeling great. He was happier than ever!

Despite all the troubles in the uncertain world and unprecedented times that we’re living in. I'd have to say the last year and a half was probably the best time of
his life. He had just gotten a raise at work, he and Margie we’re so in love planning family vacations and enjoying every day of their life together! He was so proud of me becoming a mother and so exited about being a new grandpa to the most amazing baby girl who he adored so much! He was always telling Margie and I how he couldn’t wait until she started talking and walking so he could take her on her first fishing trip, teach her all the amazing things he taught me and seeing her reach all her milestones. It breaks my heart more than anything that he will not be able to do that.

Other than the photos and few videos we have of them together she won’t even remember grandpa…. He only lived to enjoy 8 months of her life.

He is so loved by all who knew him and I’m so grateful to have had him for my dad! I got to spend the first 32 years of my life with the most amazing man who had a heart of gold. I’ve never met anyone who worked harder than my dad. He rarely called in sick and hardly took vacations.

I remember how excited he was when he bought his first and only home! I was so proud of him, that was the beginning of living out his dream. Now that he’s gone his dream is now my reality I’m his only child , a new mommy trying to figure out how to pay his mortgage and burial expenses. I can’t imagine loosing the very thing he worked so hard to achieve.

He was so loving, fun, funny, creative and beyond smart, he taught me everything I know. He had so much more to offer.

Please consider helping us with the cost of his memorial so that we can honor my dad the way he deserves.

In loving memory of
Ronald Paul Ribera
