On April 8th my husband, Ronny Walker (aka "Hot Rod" by his bbq buddies) slid off his riding mower and fell into a ditch. The mower did not shut off, but came after him and cut off the ends of his 4 fingers as well as half his thumb on his right dominant hand. He is now an amputee. He needs his fingers back. We're trying to raise money for prosthetic fingers.

 

The paramedics were not able to find the severed fingers, because he was bleeding out and had to be air lifted quickly to the nearest trauma center or he would have bled to death. Thankfully a wonderful surgeon was on call and repaired the amputation of his fingers as much as possible. Three weeks later he had skin graft surgery to repair his partially severed thumb.

 

Ronny has no fine motor use of his right hand to do the things he needs to do. And he can not do even the simplest things we all take for granted.

 

He has been evaluated for prosthetic fingers. Unfortunately our insurance has denied coverage of the prosthetic fingers after receiving the prior authorization request. The price is $10,000 per finger. The prosthetic is called PIP Driver. You can look it up to see what it looks like and how it functions. We are trying to raise enough money to start with the index and middle finger - the most important. If this goes well, we will try to raise additional money for the other 2 fingers.

 

We are eternally grateful to God for saving Ronny's life. Now we are reaching out to you all as family, friends, anyone who has or knows someone who has gone thru something like this, anyone with a sympathetic/compassionate human nature to help us raise the money to replace his fingers. No amount is too small and any amount is truly a gift for which we will be incredibly grateful.
