Help Ronnie Williams Fight for Freedom and Rebuild His Life
Ronnie Williams is a loving father, a gifted writer, and a deeply compassionate soul who has always shown up for those around him. He is currently incarcerated in Dekalb County Jail in Georgia, where the conditions are inhumane—rampant violence, black mold, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, and food rations under 1,200 calories a day. These are not conditions anyone should endure, yet Ronnie is doing so with courage, resilience, and his creative spark still intact.
Ronnie is a father of two daughters, and a thoughtful man who spends his time reading, writing, and working on a book of his own. He once said he feels like a "lizard" in society—an outcast just trying to survive in a world that too often feels stacked against him. Despite everything, he continues to find meaning through connection, creativity, and care.
Ronnie lives with chronic illness and severe pain from multiple gunshot wounds to his legs, which the jail has done little to accommodate. Medical neglect is common in Dekalb County Jail, and for people like Ronnie, the risk of long-term harm is very real.
He is currently facing trial on August 21st, 2025, and urgently needs legal representation to fight for his release. His bond is set at $110,000, and a lawyer who can help advocate for him has agreed to take his case for $6,000. We are raising funds to retain this attorney as soon as possible.
But that's not all Ronnie is facing. While incarcerated:
His home was broken into.
His car was impounded.
Nearly all his personal belongings were lost or destroyed.
As anyone who has been system-impacted knows, re-entry is never easy, and for someone re-entering with chronic pain, legal barriers, and no financial safety net, it’s even harder. That’s why we’re asking for additional funds—to help Ronnie land on his feet after release and not be forced into crisis right away.
We are seeking to raise $8,000 total:
$6,000 for legal fees
$2,000 to support Ronnie’s re-entry (housing, clothes, transportation, medical care, basic needs)
Your donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward Ronnie’s freedom and healing. If you can’t give, sharing this fundraiser in your networks is just as powerful.
Let’s show Ronnie that he is not alone, that he is not forgotten, and that a different future is possible.
With love and gratitude.
