Help Ronnie Dryier Get New Lungs

Whenever you think of someone who will give the shirt off his back to help others, Ronnie Dryier is the name that comes to mind. He is a loving, supportive husband, father, and friend to all of us. Whenever someone needs something, Ronnie Dryier has always been there for so many of us!

Ronnie is a sports fanatic, and he has been inspired by Jimmy Valvano’s (Jimmy V’s) speech... “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up.” While he was busy helping others, Ronnie never stopped to think that this speech would personally apply to him.

For the past 2 months Ronnie has been stricken with COVID and he has been struggling to breathe every breath in his body. Ronnie has refused to “give up” against already incredible odds. Unfortunately, his lungs are severely damaged and he has been told that he will need a double lung transplant. He is currently being treated at Christ Hospital but is anxiously awaiting a transfer any day to the University of Chicago.

Ronnie and his wife, Michelle, along with their three children have been part of the Chicago Ridge community for most of their lives. He has willingly and unselfishly volunteered at the CRAA (Chicago Ridge Athletic Association) for many years, often going straight to games and the concession stand after working a 12-hour night shift. That is the type of guy Ronnie is - thinking of others before himself.

But now it’s time for others to think about Ronnie!

Ronnie has been diagnosed with Advanced Pulmonary Fibrosis as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID). He has been in the hospital since May 26th. Medical costs of his current and future hospital care and prescriptions are growing and will continue to grow. We need your help to support Ronnie, and the substantial bills that are in front of him and his family.
