On March 19th, Ronnie Cain’s life changed in an instant. He suffered a stroke with brain bleeding and was life-flighted from Bullhead City, AZ, to a trauma ICU in Las Vegas. He spent four critical days in the hospital, where doctors also discovered underlying heart issues, resulting in an emergency pacemaker. While his family is grateful he is home in Laughlin, the road to recovery is long, steep, and expensive.
The stroke has left Ronnie with significant challenges that require 24/7 attention. He struggles with severe speech difficulties, making communication deeply frustrating and heartbreaking for his wife, Roxy, and their loved ones. Ronnie requires medication four times a day, and some treatments cause dizziness and memory lapses, so he cannot be left alone. Because he struggles with his phone and simple technology, Roxy worries he wouldn't be able to call 911 in an emergency. Roxy is his full-time caregiver, and neither of them is able to work during his rehabilitation.
