Help Ronn with out-of-pocket expenses

Fighting an illness requires faith, mental, emotional, and physical strength. Unfortunately, it also requires money—often, a lot of it. Even with health insurance, many people struggle to pay high out-of-pocket medical expenses. And according to the Kaiser Family Foundation’s 2019 health benefits survey, out-of-pocket expenses have increased by a staggering 71% in the last ten years.

My name is Gavin Wallace and I have the privilege of serving and working with Ronn Solis who is part of our Customer Engagement Team. Ronn joined the Motorola Solutions family back in March of 2021 after a long career with Verizon. After being diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure back in 2018, he became a single father to his 14-year-old son and has done everything possible to give him stability in times of uncertainty. Now, due to an ongoing battle with diabetes, Ronn is facing the challenge of a below-the-knee amputation. I’ve witnessed him get up each day and speak positively and optimistically to those around him, and he continues to persevere and put in hard work day after day.

His 22-year-old daughter Gaby shared with me "My dad has always been a display of perseverance and hard work. I’ve watched him go through some of the toughest challenges and get back up. We started this journey with some fear and sadness but as more love and support find their way to my dad, he’s been overwhelmed with kindness. My dad has never been an emotional man, but y’all have brought him to tears more than once this past week. We don’t make it through the tough times alone, and we sure appreciate all the support his work family is showing."

Nearly 60% of Americans have been surprised by a medical bill they thought would be covered by their insurance, reports a 2017 study from the University of Chicago. We are raising money for out-of-pocket expenses for Ronn and his Son. Ronn is a fighter and an inspiration to his family, friends, and his family here at work.
