My name is Ronda, and I am a single grandmother raising my granddaughter, Zoe. Since she was born, it’s just been the two of us, and I’ve always worked hard to provide for our little family. Last May, my car broke down when the transmission failed. I couldn’t afford to repair or replace it, so for the rest of the year, Zoe and I walked or took the bus everywhere we needed to go. I worked all year and saved every penny I could, and finally, I was able to buy a used car outright.
But on Easter evening, while I was working DoorDash to make ends meet, my life changed again. After making a delivery, someone came up behind me, hit me in the head, and knocked me out. I woke up in the hospital with a concussion, and I learned that my purse and my car had been stolen. The police have been kind, but they say there’s little chance of getting my car back. I’ve exhausted all my resources, and without a car, I can’t get to work or take Zoe to her school functions and medical appointments. We have no money left for Uber or other transportation, and I’m at a loss for what to do next.
I’ve always believed in working for what I have, and asking for help is not easy for me. But with no other options and my granddaughter depending on me, I am reaching out to my community for support. If you are able to help in any way, it would mean the world to us. Your kindness would help me get back to work, make sure Zoe can attend her school activities, and ensure we both get to our doctor’s appointments. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can give.
