This GoFundMe has been created on behalf of Ronda Fowler who was involved in a nearly fatal car accident on Friday, 1/21/2022 while sitting passenger in a car that was headed to a funeral.
The accident left her in what appeared to be, a paralyzed state; however, she was airlifted to Princess Margaret hospital in Nassau, Bahamas in hopes for a miracle. Upon arrival, Doctors immediately said that most people don’t recover from this type of damage and feared that she’d never be able to walk again, but those same amazing doctors have since been able to realign her spine allowing them to perform an 12+ hour surgery in an effort to correct the extensive nerve damage.
It’s been a week since that major surgery and she is now undergoing another surgery to remove mucus buildup around her lungs to avoid infection and for tube placement that is helping her lungs as they were also damaged in the accident, unfortunately.
She is now trying to recover from both surgeries but will need to remain hospitalized, in the ICU for the next 1-3 months to do so. If another surgery is needed for the nerve damage, she may also need to be transferred to Doctor’s hospital in Nassau for further care. Once well enough, she will then need months of physical therapy to help her fully recover and walk again. Doctors do not recommend therapy in the Bahamas, so the family will need to place her in a live-in physical treatment center in Florida in order to give her the best chance at full recovery.
Ronda is currently a pharmacist, a student, the sole provider for her family and was just accepted into the University of Ohio to pursue her PhD to become a Doctor. All while caring her her niece since the age of 1 whom has type 1 diabetes. She has the heart of angel & doesn’t think twice when it comes to helping anyone, but now she’s the one who needs support.
Your donations will help her and her family cover the very costly medical bills that are piling up, allow her to get the physical therapy she will need in Florida and help with living expenses while she tries to recover, which can take up to a year and also, help get her back on her feet and able to continue to pursue her dream of becoming a Doctor once she recovers.
I have set this up on behalf of her family as GoFundMe is currently not supported in the Bahamas. All proceeds will pay medical expenses directly and anything remanning will be wired to her mother.
Thank you so much in advance for your support and prayers.
