Ronald Mundy is a husband of 37 years, father of 4 adult children, and a grandpa to 4. Growing up, we would only see him on Sundays. He was off to work before we got up for school and already at his second job before we got home. You could imagine how much cramming a man with that work ethic does on those Sundays when he has time to be home with his kids. He worked two jobs for 36 years. Poweing through every phase of our lives. When our mom left her job to homeschool us, he would be our History & Science teacher when he came home in-between jobs. My parents took in other kids, cousins, friends, and he loved them all as his own. The grim side to his work ethic has always been his cold shoulder to his health. Work came to a sudden stop due to sudden weakness and rapid weight loss. The “it’s just the flu” and “it’s just a spider bite” arguments persisted till our mom brought a church to the house to pray him into the hospital for a checkup. Our father was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Large B Cell Lymphoma in October of 2019. It shines a harsh light on the sacrifice he made to provide. The man has never even taken a real vacation.
It’s been a journey. After many chemotherapy and radiation sessions, the lump on his back shrunk dramatically. In January 2022, his cancer metastasized, taking his strength and energy. His doctor's final recommendation is to do a more intensive treatment. Unfortunately, his current insurance will only allow for one more Chemo session, which, we were informed, will destroy vital cells and keep him hospitalized for five weeks with the possibility of extended care outside the home. According to his oncologist, he has only 12 months without treatment. Higher intensity for our dad only means worse side effects than he has already experienced in the previous treatments. He knows he can beat this cancer. He is a fighter.
When a door is closed, a window is opened.
We found Hope4Cancer. They use non-toxic therapies to target the cancer cells while keeping his vital tissues and organs healthy rather than attacking his immune system. His fight with cancer has run over two years now. Unfortunately, my parents are barely making ends meet, given my dad had to stop working altogether, so paying for treatment is impossible.
As a family and our friends, we have been supporting as best as we can, but with the time we have, WE NEED HELP! Our goal is $50,000, which, at the moment, is far out of reach as it is not covered by insurance.
We want to send thanks, love, and well wishes to anyone who can assist us. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you again & blessings.
