Help Ron Fight Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer!

Hello, my name is Zachary. I am the son of the best father anyone could ask for, Ronald Guthrie.

It is with the heaviest of heavy hearts to report to you that my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer in February. It never gets easier writing that.

My father got sick with COVID last August which forced him to retire early after putting in 16 years of hard work at Wegmans. In the time since then, he has lost his life insurance and we've dried up his 401k. Things were already tight before but now we're struggling to make ends meet at the moment.

We ask that you can find it in your heart of hearts to please consider helping in any way you can. Donating, sending messages/cards, or whatever you feel is right. We are going to use the funds for medical bills, travel expenses to and from Geisinger in Danville, future celebration of life expenses, and just general quality of life assurance.

We have accepted his diagnosis but we are not going to let it control or define him or us because it doesn't. We are fighting tooth and nail and striving for the best life that my father can have at a time like this. We know the odds are stacked against us but we'll never quit and give in.

My parents have been together for 32 years and are each others' best friend. They have sacrificed everything for me from dreams to hobbies to honeymoons and so much more. I fear that I am never going to be able to repay that to my father and it breaks my fucking heart. I've accepted that life isn't fair but it doesn't lessen the sting or warm the coldness that we all feel. I just want my father to have the best life he can with his best friend from this point forward because he's always sacrificed for others but especially me.
