Ron Falenschek, former Iowa State basketball player, and I have been friends since our days as roommates and basketball teammates at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Recently, Ron faced a series of devastating health challenges that have completely changed his life. After undergoing a total knee replacement, Ron suffered a serious fall that resulted in a fractured femur where the doctors had to insert a rod in his leg. Unfortunately, the fracture and knee replacement both became infected, which led them to be removed.

During this difficult time, Ron’s wife also recently underwent surgery for a brain tumor and is recovering well, adding even more strain to their family.

These medical complications have left Ron unable to work, and he was let go from his job. As a result, he is now facing mounting medical bills and struggling to cover his daily living expenses with very limited resources. Despite his determination and positive spirit, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

I am reaching out to our community for help. The funds raised will go directly toward Ron’s medical expenses and essential living costs while he focuses on recovery.
